Leasing Farms for Pokkali Cultivation
Pokkali farm owners who are unable or unwilling to do Pokkali Farming in their farms can choose to lease their fallow farms to other willing farmers for 7 months from 14-April to 14-November and share proceeds from a successful harvest. Local Krishi Bhavan Agriculture Officer and LSG officials can provide requisite oversight of lease terms and execution.
Owner provides current Tax Receipt and Ownership Deed Records
Owner retains ownership of farm land
Owner faciliates timely sluice control to drain farms
Farmer uses farm only for Pokkali Cultivation until Harvest
Farmer shares mutually agreed harvest yield or equivalent to Owner
Owner and Farmer sign Stamp paper Lease agreement
Krishi Bhavan AO and Local Panchayath to provide oversight of terms
